Brio’s powerful and balanced blend of nutrients offers sustained, quality, high-energy nourishment to fuel your active lifestyle.

The daily and long term demands of a conditioning body are difficult to meet with just food alone. The average diet can be deficient in multiple nutrients; vitamin B1, B6, magnesium and chromium, for example. Exercise increases the need for high value nutrition because of the stresses that increased energy metabolism impose on the body.

The metabolic process of yielding energy for activity requires several nutritional co-factors. The B vitamins in particular (B1, B2, B3, B5) are critical. Magnesium, phosphorus and iron are also important. Brio is an excellent source of all of these vitamins and minerals.

Research shows that increased physical activity generates so called “free radicals.” Free radicals can damage tissue and be harmful. Our bodies respond with anti-oxidant enzymes necessary to quench these “radicals.” These valuable enzymes require several minerals to effectively come together including copper, zinc, iron, selenium and manganese. Brio is an excellent source of all of these minerals.

In addition, anti-oxidant supplementation (vitamins A, C, E) may help to quench some of the free radicals produced during exercise and in turn diminish muscle damage and soreness. Brio is also an excellent source for all of these vitamins.

Athletes typically require more protein than non-athletes. Brio offers 6 grams of high biological value protein per serving. The building blocks of protein are called amino acids.  There are eight essential ones. Three of these (leucine, valine, isoleucine), also known together as “branched chain amino acids (BCAAs),” are needed to help maintain muscle tissue and prevent muscle protein breakdown during exercise. The r-BST-free milk and whey protein concentrate in Brio provide a good source of these BCCAs.

Brio provides an excellent source of energy utilizing two low glycemic sweeteners: organic agave syrup and a special non-GMO, non-corn, pure fructose. We also add organic dried cane syrup making for a unique carbohydrate blend.

The agave, fructose and dried cane syrup blend are intended to work synergistically to provide much needed energy without inducing a blood sugar spike and related insulin response. Complementing this carbohydrate blend and supporting a more readily absorbed source of energy are Brio’s organic virgin coconut oil and r-BST-free ghee that provide medium chain triglyceride fats or MCT’s. MCT’s may help to support increased energy and endurance.

Bottom-line, Brio is a nutritional dynamo and will serve athletes as a healthy snack pre or post work-out.
